Quality Engineer

Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 per annum

My client who is a manufacturer and supplier of technology to the automotive industry are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer to join their quality department based in Worcestershire.

Quality Engineer Role Overview:

As the Quality Engineer you will be required to liaise with customers daily whilst ensuring that any complaints / quality issues are investigated and resolved as soon as possible. You will be tasked with project manage the development of continuous improvement activities based on the analysis of company KPI's. This role will also require you to ensure quality standards are achieved and maintained in the manufacturing process through establishing and maintaining key customer relationships internally and externally.

Quality Engineer Specific Skills and Experience

•Possesses a solid understanding of Manufacturing and Engineering, ideally with quality experience (Essential)
•Electronics industry or electronics knowledge / training / competence (Desirable)
•Experience of interfacing with OEM / demanding customers (Essential)
•Sound problem solving skills (8D, 5Y, root cause analysis) (Essential)
•A senior professional presence, able to talk with authority and knowledge (Essential)
•Conversant in working to TS16949 / ISO9001 quality management standards (Essential)
•Working knowledge and full understanding and the application of Quality Engineering tools and methodologies (PPAP / APQP / FMEA) (Essential)
•Technically orientated with the ability to understand quickly new product and process technologies (Essential)

Hours of work:

•This role will operate on a day shift (Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-12:15)

Day to day duties will include the following:
• To weld via MIG or TIG large fabrication parts (Essential)
• Receive component parts from previous stage and check components to drawings (Essential)
• Set welder and weld as required to drawing specification (Essential)
• Use jigs and fixtures to build components to drawing tolerances (Essential)


As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
• Experience of MIG or TIG welding (Essential)
• Experience in the weld of large complex fabrications i.e Heller Main Guard (Essential)
• Must be able to weld a range of materials i.e mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and zintech coated steels (Essential)
• A can do attitude (Essential)

The Role

The Quality Engineer will be required to report to the Quality Manager in handling the day to day duties as required. The successful candidate will also be required to possess a general knowledge of environmental and health & safety

Responsibilities will include:

Reviewing quality issues with shift Quality Controller and Production staff, conduct product process audits on parts and submitting quality reports.
Attending weekly quality improvement meetings whilst presenting continuous improvement recommendations.
Conducting PPAP, control plans, gauge studies, process flows diagram & process capability studies for new and existing parts.
Reviewing and amending failure mode & effects analysis (FMEA) and support the project team with all new business.
Formulating action plans to investigate and analyse customer returns to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent future failures.
Raising internal 8D's as appropriate.


The successful candidate for the Quality Engineers position will have the following:

2 - 3 years Quality Engineering experience - ESSENTIAL
Knowledge of working with IATF/16949 or TS16949, PPAP's, FMEA's, control plans, auditing and implementing corrective and preventative actions - ESSENTIAL
Using hand held measuring equipment - ESSENTIAL
Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word

The Role
As Maintenance Engineer the successful candidate will provide a pro-active approach to the prevention of equipment failure and ensuring the appropriate schedule PM is carried out as planned.

Responsibilities:

Carrying out work assignments always issued by the Maintenance Manager whilst maximizing effectiveness of the shift .
Following all work instructions, procedures, and job descriptions at all times.
Resolving mechanical/electrical problems in a timely fashion.
Order spare parts as required on shift if unavailable from stock and contact contractors/suppliers as required to maintain the required standards.
Ensuring all parts are removed from stores whilst on shift and are booked out of stores in the correct way.
Identify and analyse problems before crises and determine appropriate action and follow-up.
Working closely with production teams whilst liaising QA, Logistics and Warehouse as required.


The successful candidate for the position of Maintenance Engineer will:

Be a time served apprenticeship
Be electrical bias
Three years' work experience within a manufacturing environment is essential

17th edition qualification
Desirable skills - PLC, pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature, instrumentation, welding and FLT license holder
