Job title:Quality Manager

A well-established, family run business with vast experience in their filed, is looking to recruit for a Quality Manager to support their in-house quality function.

The Role:

To ensure customer standards are understood and implemented at all stages of the manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with ISO standards. You will lead and manage a team of 3-5 Quality professionals whilst maintaining customer relations, legal requirements and the business plan.

Day to day duties will include the following:

•To ensure that the quality department supports the customer expectations.
•Train and mentor the quality team effectively.
•Lead CI processes using Lean Methodology.
•Lead QHSE within the plastics division, using the management system to ensure compliance and training as required.
•Auditing of ISO systems as required.
•Analysis of product approval, manufacturing documentation, change control, process validation, document and records compiled as required.
•Investigate and recommend cost savings.
•Setting and maintaining KPI's.

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:

•Previously experience as a quality manager within a plastics injection moulding manufacturing environment. (Essential)
•Have some flow control, water control experience. (Advantageous)
•Lean / Six Sigma experience. (Advantageous)
•A high level of problem solving experience / methodology. (Essential)
•Degree qualification level. (Advantageous)
•Exposure of H&S (ISO18001) and Environmental (ISO14001) processes. (Advantageous)

•Ensure key performance objectives are set and agreed in line with strategic business plan, by control of resources and facilities available. Ensuring costs are controlled effectively (Essential)
•Ensure that production is safely organised to fulfil customer orders, on time on full, to an acceptable quality standard. Meeting and complying with ISO9001, ISO14001 and PPC permit (Essential)
•Implement continuous improvement by improving designs, existing methods and controls. Introduction of more efficient ways of working to include training of staffing (Essential)
•Establish and maintain good employee relations, ensure working methods and conditions meet legal requirements (Essential)
•Standard manning levels need in line with production requirements (Essential)
•Ensure management are trained sufficiently to support the division and business plan (Essential)
•Ensure correct recruitment throughout the division. Ensure correct levels of conduct are maintained and where issues arise, these are dealt with appropriately (Essential)
•Ensure customer requirements are exceeded in terms of quality and service (Essential)
•Ensure quality standards and information is available as required and control scrap (Essential)
•Ensure that codes of safe working practise are implemented and obeyed by all personnel (Essential)
As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
•Performed in an operational managerial role within a plastics injection/extrusion/blow moulding (Essential)
•Technically compliant with plastics (Essential)
•Lean manufacturing expertise and a continuous improvement knowledge (Essential)
•Demonstrated leadership (Essential)

My client are a world leading manufacturer of iron castings and plastic moulded products for the sanitaryware sector. They require a Foundry Customer Quality Engineer for their operations.

Day to day duties will include the following:
•To address any customer concerns or issues promptly and co-ordinate solutions via action plans including containment activities and quality alert boards, 8D, problem solving techniques, 5 why, ishikawa (Essential)
•To ensure customer standards are understood and implemented at all stages of the manufacturing process. Ensure that all production and processing is in line with company work instruction (Essential)
•To create and manage work instructions at every stage of manufacturing, ensuring all relevant departments - utilise them and create audit system to monitor progress (Essential)
•Ensure customer returns are reviewed within 24 hours of receipt and booked within the RMA system for credit and returns analysis, pareto items added to application action plans (Essential)
•Work with central quality to ensure all formal procedures line up with actual (Essential)
•Co- ordinate customer complaint tracker and ensure agreed actions are communicated and implemented (Essential)
•Liaise with the technical departments to resolve the customer related concern through CAR and action plans (Essential)
As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
•A similar customer focused quality engineer/quality technician expertise although a graduate with an quality assurance/ quality engineering degree will be considered (Essential)
•Knowledge of quality process and experience fo dealing with clients on a daily/regular basis (Essential)
•Some experience and knowledge of 8D, problem solving, 5 Why, Ishikawa (Advantageous)
•Any knowledge or experience of a foundry environment will be advantageous (Advantaeous)
•An analytical approach and strong work ethic (Essential)
•Good IT skills and a team player (Essential)
