Job Vacancy - Shift Plant Manager

Our client is one of the UK's largest independent manufacturers of speciality organic chemicals, providing a comprehensive package of products and technical services across two distinct global market areas - fine chemicals and polymer chemicals.

We currently have a vacancy for a Shift Plant Manager.

Reporting to the Cell Manager, you will control the production for a specific group of chemical manufacturing plants. You will ensure production and quality targets are met in a safe manner and take actions to ensure that the processes operate to budget. Providing production advice, you will be actively involved in maintaining plant operating efficiency, safety and environmental standards. You will also be responsible for effective staff allocation, training and discipline.

To be successful you will ideally have a degree in Chemistry or Engineering, with some experience of line management in fine or pharmaceutical or polymer chemical manufacture. You will need excellent planning, communication and people skills.

An understanding of essential engineering requirements of a chemical plant is desirable, along with knowledge of quality and environmental management systems, manufacturing equipment control systems and COSHH in a chemical manufacturing environment.

You will have a practical approach to problem solving and a good eye for detail, with the ability to work under pressure. IT literacy and commercial awareness are desirable skills.


This role will work a 4 on, 4 off pattern. Working 10 hour shifts on days only 08:00 - 18:00 hours, with 200 hours annual leave entitlement. Public holidays for this role are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, all other public holidays are incorporated in the shift pattern.

Opportunity Summary: We have a vacancy within our Engineering Department and are currently recruiting for the role of an Engineering Estimator. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.



Role Accountabilities:



To prepare accurate cost estimates for the manufacture of complex machined components for the aerospace and IGT industries to support successful bids for new and existing programmes.



Preparation of detailed cost estimates for the manufacture of machined products to support the acquisition of new business and commercial activities on existing business.
Identification of all raw material and bought-out requirements from detail drawings to allow the Supply Chain function to obtain quotations for price and lead time.
Preparation of robust and efficient methods of manufacture as a basis for completing cost estimates. Methods are to include all Special Process requirements such as Heat Treatment, Coatings, Testing etc.
Calculation of Standard Hour content from first principles for all manufacturing operations.
Analysis of performance on manufacture of existing production to verify profitability.
Identification of all Non-Recurring Costs (NRC's) associated with the manufacture of components being estimated.
Identification of Non-Recurring Engineering Costs (NRE's) associated with the development of the components being estimated.
To support the Business Development function in submission of bids in line with agreed timescales
Support internal Bid Review Meetings through preparation and maintenance of trackers showing progress towards target submission dates.
To support the Senior Management Team in fulfilling or exceeding the business plan.
To perform other such duties as generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility.


Person Specification:



At least 5 years manufacturing experience in an aerospace / automotive or relevant environment.
Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
Must be an experienced Estimator / Manufacturing Engineer with a strong CNC machining background and be fully conversant with modern manufacturing techniques.
Experience of machining large precision turned and prismatic components in aerospace materials.
Would preferably have knowledge of CAD CAM systems with Solid Works and Catia being a distinct advantage.
You must have strong time management skills with the ability to deliver multiple requirements concurrently to demanding timescales.
Good commercial awareness particularly when dealing with Customers
Must be dynamic, enthusiastic with excellent communication skills with the ability to fit into a multi-functional team environment.

Workforce are recruiting for an experienced Toolmaker for our client in the Willenhall. Starting ASAP, this will be a Temp to Perm placement with an opportunity for a permanent placement at the end of the probation period.
To be successful, you must have the following experience:
• Have experience working on conventional machining including mills, lathes, drills, grinders etc.
• Read and understand technical drawings to ensure all parts produced are correct.
