Service Centre Manager - Nuneaton


An exciting opportunity for an experienced Service Centre Manager with knowledge of Plant Maintenance to join our Nuneaton site. The successful candidate will lead the site's leadership team and will report to the Group Operations Director.

The primary purpose of the role is to be responsible for Nuneaton Service Centre operations sites- including where applicable: safety on site; optimizing labour; material, equipment and sustainability resources to maximize product availability and meet customer expectations with excellent quality and service. The job holder will be required to drive the employee engagement and development across the whole site.

Major/Key Accountabilities:

Primary purpose

Full accountability for the Nuneaton Service Centre processing c110m units a year.

• Ensure all service centre activity complies with current H&S legislation. Ensure the operation is fully manned & trained within Safety Health Environment & Risk guidelines. Manage subcontract service providers within agreed service levels and contract management
• Ensure processes are compliant to GMP where applicable.
• Maintain an accurate reporting of stock with a regular audit cycle. Control storage, stock rotation, stock levels and material handling. Maintain comprehensive administration data and procedures to achieve high levels of stock accuracy. Escalate stock control issues.
• Ensure that the production process is maintained to plan within quality and hygiene criteria.
• Support high levels of customer service through complaint and assurance visits where necessary.
• Achieve financial objectives/budgetary responsibility / project delivery.
• Drive the engagement and enablement agenda for all employees. Develop the management team within site to create a high performing team.

Experience:
• Management experience in a plant operations or logistics environment. Worked at plant/site manager level and delivered excellence.
• Experience in project management, business and systems analysis.
• Experienced lean or continuous improvement (CI) champion.
• Demonstrated experience of cross functional and multi-level interaction and working in a matrix organization
• Ideally experience of working within high volume / target driven manufacturing environment
• Led & achieved results in pan-European, multi-single site, working with multi-lingual teams & blue-collar sites


Skills & Knowledge:
• Proven skills: excellent leadership credentials, good communication skills, team building and teamwork, collaboration, initiative and problem-solving skills are essential to this role.
• Knowledge of the budgeting and CAPEX processes
• Use/experience of Project Management tools.
• Knowledge and use of Lean/Six Sigma
• PC Literate with particularly strong Excel skills.

The position also involves supporting the preventative maintenance programme and continuous improvement of all areas of the plant. Working alongside shift Electricians within a 3 shift rotation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Completed engineering apprenticeship with a minimum City and Guilds (or equivalent)
• 3 years proven experience within a multi-skilled maintenance environment
• 17th Wiring Regulations Certification desirable
• Ability to work mechanically essential
• Knowledge of the steel making and heat treatment industries
• Working knowledge of steel abrasive processing and technology
• Knowledge of Gas Combustion Systems
• Previous experience within a heavy industrial bias preferred
• Specialist training in some of the following desirable:

1.Electric Arc Furnaces and gas-fired Rotary Furnaces
2.PLC control systems
3.Overhead Crane Maintenance
4.Maintenance of Pumps, Motors, Fans and Drives
